Have you ever wondered why so many different types of toilet paper exist? Well, I definitely have, and it bothers me, to an extent. There are soft ones that are quite comfortable to use, and there are really thin and rough ones that can rip a new hole on your behind!
We have Charmin, Cottonelle, Quilted Northern, Scott, and a whole bunch of others probably not worth mentioning. I just don't understand who is fine with having really thin toilet paper where you have to use twice the amount anyway for it not to fall apart in your hands.
If you've noticed, public restrooms use EXTRA THIN toilet paper that are also a lot narrower than what we usually use. Imagine the discomfort and anxiety this causes to those who have trouble with such toilet paper. There have been some health related issues that I've heard about such as the lint from the toilet paper not being healthy for some reason.
Personally, I prefer to "be kind to my behind," so Cottonelle gets my vote - though Charmin and Quilted Northern are good too. I imagine that for all those that are lazy (1000 sheets!) and are concerned with the lint, prefer the Scott brand. I guess there can't ever be that "one" brand that's just right for everyone. What do you guys prefer, and why?

Yep! The MacBook Pro that I purchased less than a week ago has arrived, and I'm super excited! I haven't opened the box yet as I've been very busy with things, but it will be getting a whole lot of attention from me, very soon! I've been waiting for my very own notebook computer of mine, and now the dream has come true.
I look forward to many excellent times with this machine, and I am ready to face the challenges that are set before me. Being able to do everything on the go for the first time will probably be a bit strange at first, but I look forward to many new creative doorways opening up. Let's see how my adaptation to the portable world effects me in the time come.

Don't you hate it when you wake up in the morning and nothing is working out for you? Things not in place, no hair jell, books to pack, lack of new cloths to wear, etc. These are the things that most people usually go through on a tough morning. Today wasn't a good day for me at all.
To start off, I didn't even sleep properly. I would sporadically wake up every hour for about 6 hours with different dreams each time. I usually remember my dreams but I was so disoriented when I woke up, nothing stuck in my head! That sucks because I like to recall my dreams throughout the day and try to figure them out and such.
This morning I had Photography class and absolutely nothing was packed and ready. I had to print out an assignment with a bunch of photos, get my class notebook ready, and prepare my camera and tripod. So yes, I went to class without my notebook. For another class of mine, I ended up not really being prepared because I was supposed to have something completed that I thought wasn't due until a later date. More after the jump...

So you're probably thinking this is just another "eat right and work out" blog post, but it's different because this is my version of it all. I believe that the significance of staying healthy in life cannot be expressed enough! It's important to always have new sources of motivation, and other people's perspectives on such matter.
Exercising is beneficial in so many ways but people still fail to take action no matter how aware you make them. Even to this day, the importance of nutrition and exercise is not emphasized enough in our school systems (at least here in the US). Children don't get the proper exposure to things like how much fun it could be to participate in healthy activities.
Sooner or later, I believe that the obesity epidemic of America is gonna get so bad, the types of actions would have to be taken that absolutely no one will like. Yes, there are many complications in people's lives, but there's still not enough effort being put towards bettering children's lives through activities and education. More after the jump...

Well, after a few months of thinking about purchasing a MacBook Pro, I've made the move and bought it! I current run on an iMac 24" (the last model before the Aluminum ones) with a 500GB HD and 2GB of RAM, which is a phenomenal machine!
The MacBook Pro that I ordered has a 15.4" display, 2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo chip and 2GB of RAM. It originally came with a 250GB 5400RPM drive but I "upgraded" to the 200GB 7200RPM drive. I spoke to a lot of people about the speed increase causing warmer temperatures and shorter battery life, but I don't think it'll be too much of an issue.
With this machine, I'll be able to go mobile for the first time in my computing history! Now I can finally leave my room to work on things like designs, blogging, homework, and all creative things! I hear that the wait is the worst part about getting a new Mac, and honestly, I'm super excited!

I recently ordered a Garmin navigation system and apparently something was wrong, so we had Amazon send us a new one. This was achieved all online in less than 10 minutes, without making a single phone call. I got an email response early in less than a day saying that they will be sending out a new unit as soon as possible with One-Day Shipping.
So then it was time for me to print the shipping label so the defective unit could be sent back, but that link was expired for some reason. In their email, they have this thing that asks if all of your questions were resolved. If you click no, it takes you to a page where you can either have Amazon call you, or you can contact them via email. More after the jump...

I went to the MoMa (Museum of Modern Art) for the first time a couple of days ago, and it was great! I spent most of my time on the 3rd floor where all the photography and architecture & design areas were. Naturally, I was impressed, so when it was time to leave, I spent a few more minutes in the design store where I chose to purchase this book over the others.
Everything from the Post-it note to the Condom is covered in this book. With short historical descriptions of how each product came about, you learn about the fact that almost everything we use on a daily basis today was invented within the last century. If you're ever in the need of starting a conversation, you'll get plenty of ideas from this book. Everybody loves interesting facts - why else did the Snapple Facts under the caps become such a success?
Featuring 100 different items, this book is definitely something every designer and non-designer should own for the reason that you learn to appreciate it all in a whole new way. Come on, who wouldn't want to know that the amount of wire used to make Slinkys since 1943 could wrap around the earth 126 times (and growing)? More after the jump...

I recently read an article in the AFT (American Federation of Teachers) newsletter that discussed a very interesting topic; should students be paid for good test scores?
To get down to the point, I have some mixed thoughts about all of this. Paying students can be both detrimental and beneficial depending on the situation. From this, children can learn the value of work = money, but may effect how much energy they put into actually learning the material without forgetting it the next day. More after the jump...

In the first part of this article, I discussed things including creativity, technical skill & knowledge, and the business aspect of design. Now, I will cover gaining work experience, finding a good job after graduating, and staying productive as you go about your journey towards design success.
First, I want to start off by saying that succeeding in any field can be difficult without determination and love for what you do. I have seen all too many times people getting degrees in whatever field that and end up doing something completely different. If you're young and still in the decisive stage, good. This is the perfect time to figure out what career path to choose, and what's right for you. The Design field is very competitive. It requires lots of communication, ongoing desire to learn, and the ability to push yourself to new limits. More after the jump...

Most people, if not everyone, procrastinates at some point and at some level. Personally, I think I get it pretty bad myself, and I'm definitely not okay with it. I have too many endeavors and goals that I need to meet to procrastinate, and I'm sure everyone else does too. There are things people can do to increase productivity and never have to miss deadlines and such because of it.
Procrastination is like an addictive drug; once you get a hang of it and start getting comfortable, it's very hard to lose the habit. There are many bright people out there that have minds of gold, but this just gets the worst of all of us. Positive and negative influences are all around us. Work, family members, and even food and media effect us all!
Nobody likes being weak, so what should one do to get off their rear-end and soar towards success? More after the jump...
