It's not so often you hear about a 100% organic clothing shop opening in your town. Treehugger reports that "Eden" has opened its doors about a month ago in Sao Paulo, Brazil that does just that. All articles of clothing in this shop are made with organic cotton, and the shop goes as far as having its furniture made using bamboo and demolition wood.
Promoting organic cotton shouldn't be a rarity, but instead, it should be something more companies pay attention to. YD Confections and Coexis is the company in charge of the Eden brand and they work with manufacturing organizations in the field to produce sustainable materials.
According to the World Health Organization, about 20,000 deaths occur due to pesticide poisoning. On top of it all being a danger to humans, the environment takes a toll as well. Check out Treehugger's guide to Organic Cotton.
I'd like to see these kinds of stores opening up in New York City. I'm sure the fashion world would give this idea a nice big hug!
I've mentioned a number of times in the past that I love Mixed Martial Arts and now I am finally getting into it. I have to modify my school schedule in order to join to the MMA school that I'm planning to attend. When I was younger I used to take Shotokan Karate for around 3 years and even after that, I remained interested in martial arts and all forms of styles including grappling, boxing, kickboxing, etc.
I am currently scheduled to take 5 classes during this semester of college, totaling 15 credits. In order to stay fulltime, a minimum of 12 credits is required and I will be dropping one class to give myself more time. The class that I am dropping will free up A LOT of time and will allow me to do more things. I will have all morning and afternoon classes with Thursdays free.
So yes, this is big change in my life. In the past, I've always concentrated on school first, but now I realized how important it is to cater other things too, especially at my age. I also mentioned in the past that getting my Driver's License was one of the items on my 2008 Resolution list. I'll keep you guys updated with how all these things develop.
Question for you: Are you taking any sort of Martial Art now, or have done so in the past?
Lately I've been contemplating whether or not I should extend my .Mac Mobile Me membership. I've decided that I'll make the move and take the risk. Not everyone may find all the features of Mobile Me useful but they've all helped me a great deal. The online storage (now up to 20GB) has saved my life numerous times and I really don't wanna lose this feature.
I know that a lot of people have been complaining about the stability of the service as of late, but I haven't experienced any of that stuff. Now, to be honest, I don't really use the Mobile Me email for anything, but I plan to change that very soon. I really love the idea of having "push" email, calendar, and contacts but I've been fine without it for the longest time!
I trust that Apple will fix up whatever problems they've been having just as they do with other issues. And while on the topic of issues, I'm still disappointed at the iPhone 2.0 firmware! The camera just started messing up where it wouldn't store some of the pics that I take. Where's the update, Apple?!?!
Here is a tutorial showing how to recreate the world famous Fox News logo. A Google search for the Fox News logo gave poor results so I figured I'd show you how to make one yourself. The techniques in this tutorial can be applied to many other tasks throughout the suite of Adobe applications.
I must give credit to Current.com for this video. I've watched it a few times and showed it all of my friends. Can't forget all the great arguments we've all had between Macs and PCs. Ever wondered what a face off between Bill Gates and Steve Jobs would be like? If so, you're going to like this. Enjoy!
I'll get straight to the point. The iPhone 2.0 sofware is great in many ways, but it has also made me miserable! The interface is stupidly slow and sometimes unresponsive for moments at a time. Everything accessing the preferences, camera, and serveral applications from the App Store freeze a lot, and at times cause the phone itself to reset.
Syncing and backing up takes forever, even when the phone is just over half full with audio/photos/videos. I recently restored my phone again and so far things have been more stable, but some of the menus and applications are slow. I hope this is something that gets fixed in an update very soon.
The App Store is great and all, but more and more just barely seem to work properly. I hope this is the fault of the 3rd party developers and gets fixed up in a timely manner. I love the App Store, but these negative aspects just take all the joy away.
I have been using the Flip Video Ultra for about 2 weeks now and I only have positive things to report. This device has turned into something I take with me everywhere I go, just like my cellphone and keys. I've been able to capture rare moments with friends and family, as well as events such as the July 4th fireworks.
There aren't many cameras that are targeted for the general consumer, but the Flip Video Ultra looks like it's the one to beat.

When the iPhone 2.0 firmware was released, I eagerly downloaded and updated my iPhone. The App Store is probably the main reason of why I've been excited about it all this time. There are a lot of free applicataions that are quite useful, but there are also a lot of apps (both free and paid) that suck. I don't blame it for being new and fresh with the things that are being offered, but I have no doubt that in due time improvements in the apps will be made.
Lately, I've been playing around with a bunch of different applications such as Shazam, Last.fm, Twitterific, vSNAX Videos, and more. I'll be posting mini-reviews of the applications that I like, and the improvements that can be made in them.
I haven't paid for any applications yet since there isn't much to lure me in at the moment. One thing that I am really looking forward to (that I will purchase) is language learning software. On top of dictionaries and translators, which should be cheap or free, I'd like to see well developed apps that can teach me Russian, Cantonese, Spanish, and other languages. On top of all that...a bunch of cool games would be nice, too!
It's July 4th and that time of the year is here again. The day America became a free nation. History lessons aside, tonight I'm planning on heading into the city to watch the fireworks in person! I hope all of you out there (in the States) have a great day and have lots of fun.
On the 30th of June, I celebrated my 20th birthday at home and with the family. A bunch of relative came over and they all had a pretty good time (while being very loud, not to mention). I got about 10 different shirts and $200 worth of gift cards for cloth shopping - which is great because I've been wanting to refresh my wardrobe.
I know that to many people, their birthday is a very special day. Some go drinking, some go crazy on buying themselves gifts, and some party like animals. I, on the other hand, have never been excited about my birthday. I guess the reason for that is because birthdays aren't all that to rave about in my family.
I don't feel any older or any different at all than last year and the year before - other than knowing that I am smarter than I was the previous year. I usually compare myself to the past versions of me in things like technical skills, health, general knowledge, and accomplishments. Every year I strive to make a better me. I consider birthdays to be marks of milestones. I don't know how others feel about this but I certainly hope that everyone tries to better themselves - just as some attempt to for New Year's resolutions.
If anyone's birthday just happen to pass, or is coming up shortly, I wish you a very happy birthday filled with happiness, health and success!
